A typical turn-of-the-century advert for an iron church, in this case from Banbury’s of Croydon, who went on to be better known for their steel frames and other constructional work. It seems these tin tabernacles were profitable, but only for a short time. And this one is quite elaborate, with its big spire and aisles. Also typical is the lack of a price; even catalogues didn’t always come with prices, but that meant they could be reused over several years. A separate price list was the answer.
