Portable building firms, and other ironworking companies, were quite innovative in their use of advertisements and catalogues. Joseph Ash & Son, whose speciality was galvanised tanks, made this advert look like a – tank, of course. They were also responsible for many of the little pagoda-roofed shelters that appeared on GWR lines. Frederick Braby, best known for manufacturing corrugated iron rather than buildings – though they did export buildings – had a splendid advert in the form of an apparently 3D house, mostly created by typography (have to wait for the book for that one).
